Southeast Europe Regional Alumni ONE

European Center for Security Studies George C. Marshall

Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, 18-22 June 2018

Between 18 and 22 of June 2018, a regional alumni ONE was held in the European Center for Security Studies George C. Marshall.  Five alumni from the Republic of Macedonia were also invited to attend the event.

The focal point of the regional alumni ONE was put on the Marshall Center’s alumni activities in the last 25 years as well as on the alumni’s potential to act towards resolving the contemporary security challenges in the region. The overall goal of this reflective gathering was to exchange opinions on the most severe security issues in the region as well as to propose, discuss, initiate and ultimately develop specific security- oriented endeavors for tackling the security challenges on both national and regional level. Relying on the past experiences of the Marshall Center, the purpose of this event was also to provide the alumni with an interactive reflection and networking opportunity and to motivate them to get more involved in the Marshall Center’ alumni associations.

Being part of this regional alumni gathering was of a paramount importance for revitalization of the network of the alumni working in the law enforcement and security structures and for maintaining, updating and developing additional knowledge on the most prevailing security matters in the region. The active participation in the plenary sessions and discussion groups has substantially contributed to improving the participants’ knowledge and it represents an additional impulse for even more active involvement of the George Marshall Alumni Association of the Republic of Macedonia.
